There is a lot of public offers in Basel city. Every saturday there is some kind of social or cultural activity going on down town. A couple of weeks ago it was the Swiss beach volley tour which took place, before that a giant flee-market and last weekend it was Slow Up Basel and some kind of celebration of the cantons.













We have blogged about the Fastnacht celebration witch is a kind of Halloween with everyone dressed up, celebrating the pagan holiday. The costumes are kind of creepy and you can already hear the sounds of flutes in music schools all around the city even though the celebration is in March.













This weekend we saw a big parade with people dressed up as traditional warriors, carrying old weapons and banners through the city. We are not sure what the purpose was, but we think we saw the mayor greeting all the attendees.
